Welcome to your new league All-Stars. You are a combination of the 2008 Mafia League and Sicilian League. The top performers and most enthusiastic contenders from both of those leagues make up this new league. As an added twist, two rookies are thrown in the mix.

Before the 2009 season opens, let’s take a look back at 2008 and how we got here. Amazingly, Shoeless Joe Jackson (William Fields) won both of last year's leagues. He led the Sicilian League wire-to-wire, but in the Mafia League had to dodge a cut.

MAFIA LEAGUE 2008

The 2008 Mafia League featured the rivalry of Back Stabber (Eric K) and Fibonacci's Thugs (Jonathan Ferris). Eric and his family led the standings but Jonathan had numbers. With his numbers, Jonathan gunned down Eric and all of his boys except Shoeless Joe.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

-OPENING NIGHT FIREWORKS: A sit down ended with the deaths of Carlito's Gay (Barry Gay) and Corleone's Cat (Jonathan Diaz). The next day Godfather's Bitch (Joey Sisti) was hit because of suspicion of cheating. It turned out, he was innocent
-BONNIE AND CLYDE: The husband and wife duo of Femme Mafia and Papa John (John and Cindy Jarrett) were gunned down two weeks into the season. John made many one-way deals between him and his wife which propelled him in the standings while dropping her to the bottom. She took the hit; he couldn't tolerate losing her and committed suicide.
-ACHMED'S TERROR: Achmed the Dead Terrorist (Chuck Dempsey), one of the most colorful mobsters in the league, was silenced on May 13 by Jonathan’s powerful family. He was one of the highest ranked members to go down in a vote
-MAFIA ALL-STAR: Back Stabber (Eric K) was voted as the 2008 Mafia League All-Star. He was recognized both by his allies and foes as one of the best competitors in the league. Fibonacci's Thugs (Jonathan Ferris) and Eastside Voodoo (Ben Fuqua) were named second team
-DODGING A BULLET: The July 12 vote out became a major turning point. Jonathan’s family put Shoeless Joe (William Fields) in its sights for the cut. Shoeless tossed his players to James Bond (Alex L). It was like an armed man tossing a gun to an unarmed man. Jonathan’s family followed the weapon and gunned down Alex. Shoeless went on to live another day and eventually defeated his rivals
-RIVAL DOWNED: The final vote cut on September 4 marked the end of the run for Back Stabber (Eric K). Jonathan’s family put him down like a vet does a sick dog. That same night an apparition of Achmed was seen . He was exorcised shortly afterwards.
-CONSIGLIERE: On September 15, the final bottom cut, Eastside Voodoo (Ben Fuqua) was silenced. Ben was like the oil in a machine. He plotted, planned, and made Jonathan’s family a strong team. He was a true consigliere.

SICILIAN LEAGUE 2008

The Sicilian League was much less active than the Mafia League and anyone who did speak up or tried to take charge was silenced. By the second half of the season, the message board was almost empty. One of the more powerful members of the league was Lil Bamba (Cherie Garvey), but her family took hits because of cheating which weakened her status in the game. Eventually she went down because of rats in her family. Shoeless Joe (William Fields) had his way with this league.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

-OPENING NIGHT MOVE: Shoeless Joe (William Fields) used his vote as leverage to get players. Team Volpe (Tom Volpe) took the hit
-DEATH OF A FAMILY: It was discovered that the husband and wife duo of Capo Omerta and Hot Goumada (John and Cindy Jarrett) had a third account Paulie Sindacco (Paul Jaegar). All three were gunned down April 20 because of cheating
-RATS: Lil’ Bamba (Cherie Garvey) was a member of the Jarrett family but found herself alone in a league of wolves after their demise. She was very vocal, but vocal didn't work in this league. Even now, more than a year after her end, she has more posts than anyone on this forum. She found new allies and put her trust in them, but they turned out to be rats. One by one they put knives in her back on May 13.
-SICILIAN ALL-STAR: Shoeless Joe (William Fields) was voted the 2008 Sicilian League All-Star. Don Carlo (Eli Gulsby) was named second team. Though it was never mentioned publicly, Shoeless and Eli seemed to have an unspoken rivalry. Eli appeared to be the only man willing to step out and challenge Shoeless, but the challenge never came
-FINAL BLOW: Don Carlo (Eli Gulsby) went down in the final vote cut of the season. He vowed to get even
